This time it was Soniya's turn to turn down names proposed by Mamta Benerji And Mulayam Yadav. As I said earlier that Mamta and Mulayam had proposed Manmohan Singh for the elections and it surely was a googly bowled at congress and we new to some extent the outcome too. But Congress supremo today turned down the names of other two suggestions too, and repeated that party is still backing Pranab Mukharji.
This in turn has initiated an indirect ego war in-between congress and TMC, where TMC Supreme leader said this evening she is not frightened by any threats from Congress Party and expressed strong will to stand by A P J Kalaam's name.
This came right after a Congress leader had blamed Mamta of blackmailing the coalition and taking undue advantage. This straight head-on fight between congress and Left gave signals of Left preparing itself as third front for upcoming 2014 elections. Whether this new and awkward coalition will survive till then is another question that needs to be taken into account too.
Today a long(about one and half hour) meeting of UPA (TMC and SP not involved) had happened on this same issue and the end result was still not reached(not declared to media) .
By the time this meeting was over, Kalaam had also agreed to contest indirectly making things even more difficult for UPA and its supporters as they have decided to oppose his second term.
The politicians and political parties of India have been busy deciding on future President and all other major issues that till now were taking center stage are out of focus for now. We must expect a final of this whole episode tomorrow with Congress supposedly declaring its candidate and others favoring or opposing it. This will make clear wether wins the race to Riasena HIlls or Kalaam gets his second term?
