Shamefull, Disgusting, Black spot on Democratic setup-These words are not enough.

Today Indian Parliament is in pitiable insane condition.

The Indian democracy has seen many many days where any or all parties have been guilty of not letting the Parliament function. The abusive language, snatching mikes, throwing chairs and all sorts of disgusting things  have happened in the temple of democracy and over the years most of us if not all have started to take it as normal. All the political parties over the years have maintained that this is one of the ways to show your disagreement with whatever is happening in the house. Specially when the governing parties or the governing coalitions try to introduce new bills or amendments without consulting the house. Though There is the obvious political side to this.

Politicians and political parties have time and again used these sort of non democratic and ill-will methods to gain advantages or harm the political opponents. I am sure that non of the parties that are there can claim to be clean with respect to adjourning the house as and when they like or they require to. The Indian National Congress has done this to shield its Members of parliament whenever they were caught in some sort of scam or corruption or crime. The opposition has also been interrupting house for years. In fact the current government may have seen most number of hours to have been ruined due to the chaos in house.

All said and done there had not been a worst day in the functioning of the house than today. The Respected Members of Parliament today did it all. From spraying pepper, kick-boxing each other, attacking each other with mikes (some saw them as knife), braking tables and snatching day's schedule from speaker's table. The most unbelievable fact is that the chaos was not created by any opposition party member but the ones who belong to the ruling party. 

 

The script had already been prepared by the governing coalition yesterday when they introduced the interim railway budget in a house full of chaos. The political critics had not yet finished criticizing the unusual incident and today all this occurs. The management skills of the UPA had already been under the scanner for days and they had been blamed to have staged this drama where nothing seems to be under control. One should not forget that these people belong to same party that supposedly has the most strict central command in the hands of Gandhi Family.

I have intentionally avoided touching upon the so called central or main issue "Telangana" as it has no significance with respect to the standards we have reached in terms of functioning of the Democratic setup.

The honorable speaker has already suspended the 17 members of parliament who were involved in this shameful act. Meanwhile the parties have started to give it a political color of their liking.

It remains to be seen if country still has to suffer more until the next election or weather all this is actually because of the upcoming elections. I as one of the Indian citizens can only pray that nothing of this sort is ever ever ever repeated again it the future.

About Onion Whats Your opinion. Do we Indians only eat onions?

 Do we need to debate onions only?

The onion (yes unfortunately I need to use THE) prices in India make new records every now and then. Its prices create certain disturbance in our economy, our kitchens and in most disturbed area, our parliament. Almost every time it crosses the Rupees 60 mark, there is a political mileage at stake for different political parties. The opposition starts attacking government for the hike and government wastes no time in blaming the monsoon.

Look at these edible diamonds.

• It is important to discuss price hike when it gets out of common man's reach. Onion is an important and almost universal ingredient of Indian cuisine. But if my mind is not playing any tricks on me I can remember of recipes and meals that are manageable without the use of our onion sir.
• There are quite a handful of these daily use recipe ingredients that we use in every food. Lets for instance take up garlic. It is also very highly priced and during off-sessions its price might even cross Rs 100 easily. But we rarely ever see our parliament being adjourned due to its prices. Another example- ginger, its costs also shoot through the roof every now and then but still no house gets adjourned.

• The question I am trying to raise is- Why do we all like being hyper about only the onion and not the other items that have caused havoc on our monthly balance sheets?  And my couple of comparisons could be bizarre but they are good enough to show that the inflation has hit everything else as well.

Inflation in general has adversely affected all other sectors too. But we (and specially our representatives) don't seem too bothered about it. Just because of media going gaga about one household item we all sing in course and hope the hated and corrupt regime will somehow be toppled down.

Results of Next Indian General Elections dependent on Voter Polarization?

 The political parties in India have started singing their different ragas for next General Elections. Indian news channels can't have enough of the topic. Every party wants to predict the timing and outcome of these elections as per its liking. Some of them want it as soon as possible and others are in damage control mode. For last almost six months every act of the Government and that of opposition is being connected to elections. Where on one hand INC has started making special bills and amendments so as to appease common man's expectations, on the other side of it opposition has started reshuffling its organization. Specially main opposition party BJP has been through a lot in last six months. The party went through some real in-fight among its stalwarts for the leadership and it also had to say good bye to its long time political ally JDU.

 The JDU had been showing its great concern about BJP trying to revive its old Hindutva agenda to regain its lost grounds in country's politics. All of the JDU leaders have opposed Narendra Modi's increasing influence in same voice. the once integral part of NDA, JDU suddenly felt the need to move away from Modi's strong Hinduism that he interestingly puts forward as India first. It was just the beginning of BJP trying to reinvent itself as pro-Hindu party. The way some of the BJP's top leaders have been sidelined slowly and steadily shows the increasing influence of organizations like RSS and the VHP. The issue of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya seems to be regaining its political importance across different political parties after being sidelined for almost a decade. Even those who claim to be secular spare no chance of getting into controversy as soon as possible.

 One can easily understand how different parties are trying to score more on VHP's 84 Kossi Yatra (a parade that is supposed to cross through some of religiously most controversial regions and end at the place where supposedly a temple of Lord Ram is scheduled to be erected). The parade that should have been a religious one has turned into a political drama over the last week or so. Weather the parade was actually needed is the question that requires to be answered but still the way different parties are using this issue to appeal to their respective potential vote banks is inexplicable (or may be very well understood).

The Smajwadi Party which is in power in the state of Utter Pradesh and a political ally of Indian National Congress has taken the issue seriously ( for its own benefit? ) and is cracking down heavily on the activists and religious practitioners. Till yesterday it has already made around 1600 preventive arrests. The party says it is trying to maintain the law and order that is in danger due to this parade. One feels even if the party has a justified fear for law and order in the state that it rules; the local government could also have mastered the situation by allowing this parade under strict supervision and tight security measures. But then it would not have a chance to call the BJP and its partners communal and score more in the eyes of Muslim minorities that make a large chunk of its vote bank.

 Since the controversial and bulldogging character Narendra Modi has been made Head of the election committee by the BJP leadership there has been a noticeable change in the way party projects itself. It has become more of a right wing flag bearer. One wonders if the party is making an attempt to polarize the voters and possibly target the largest chunk, the Hindus? Another question that arises is weather there still exists that fanaticism in the country's more self aware voters that once pushed the BJP to National Parliament in large numbers and a BJP lead government was formed.

 It is going to take some time before we can see results of those 2014 elections and substantiate weather the communal polarization plays any role therein. The only thing one can pray for is that there should not be any sad riots and/or communal hatred making its presence felt as its been in the past. Another interesting topic would be weather any political party has the courage to fight these elections on the basis of some real, existing issues like corruption, depleting economy, bungee jumping Rupee, threats from neighbors like China and Pakistan, Unemployment and all those avoided reforms.         

Not Indian But A celeb Fan

 Friends I have been thinking about the impact of celebrities on our thoughts and identity. I was aware of the fact that a certain proportion of our society admires and follows celluloid(70mm screen) names, but got surprised with their effect on our social behavior. My focus went to a new trend coming up in our society(and I am sure almost each one of us is aware of it), the trend of following our so called heroes and ideals when they raise an issue of public or national interest. Be it a movie star or a cricketer, once these people get involved with anything that is related to us or whole India, we just go gaga about it.
 Wait a minute you may have guessed that I am now going to criticize all of this, no I not here for that. I am fully in favour of any one who joins or initiates any such cause. There is nothing harmful in following celebs and doing what we can for others, nation and ourselves. But should we be a society that is being driven by media and celebs only. The issues in India that get attention of big names are being  sorted out or given due attention. But these people might not have got information about everything that occurs in different parts of our society and hence most of them are still not sorted out. They are not solved because Indians associated with these problems either don't believe in themselves or they ignore the whole issue.
 May be(I am not sure) what we have learned, is to become The big big fans of the celebs and media and forgot to remain a free, responsible,Honest and alert Indian citizen.
 We should have never needed to follow others had we been awake enough towards anything that surrounds us.
 Let us just take an example of our this attitude, The female foeticide. We new what the situation was like in (free)India and we ignored it for ages. A sting operation occurs about seven years ago, culprits are caught red handed, cases are filed and the process just keeps multiplying for nothing for seven years. Meanwhile the journalists involved in sting get threats that they will be killed, they get cases filed against them, had to keep running from on court to the other to prove their side. And the result of this was a big zero. Suddenly there is a twist in the tale, a celeb puts up a show about the issue and within five days a state Chief Minister becomes active. He promises all his support. He along with his administration promises to set up a fast track court. The administration of health comes out with all its might in media and claims to have done everything possible to sort out the issue. was it the pressure of media, celeb or they thought this is right moment to become a hero. 
  Where were these people for last seven years? Will the so called actions against criminals be taken? If yes, How and When? Will everyone forget after 15 days, what the issue was and why we made all of this hue and cry? Well these are some of the questions that are in every Indians mind and may be we all know answers as well as remedies too.
 There is nothing around us that we can or may change until the change begins inside us. One of main causes to the problem is our dual standard system of thinking. We set different priorities for our personal life and try to behave ideally in our social life. Education is the tool that can eradicate any myths and taboos from our society. But all of this will remain a mere idea until we change individually.

                              The Future of Indian Cricket

  Indian cricket team going through transition. India finds young cricketers like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Indian cricket team became world champion last year and all of us enjoyed that lovely moment. We respect our heroes who played for the pride of country and gave it their all. Unfortunately what happened afterwards was little unexpected and one might be surprised to see that champion side sitting at number 4 in tests  ( they were at number one ranking back than) and fluctuating between 2-3 in ODIs. Despite the fact that we have got worlds best batting line-up that might be at top in terms of experience, we have struggled on almost all tracks(cricket pitches). We (Indian cricket) never had great fast bowling combinations but our spin also disappeared from seen. In addition to this we play 7-4 combination that is less stable than 6-5.

  When we look back we can say that we were a good side that is no more at its best.
 Indian cricket team right now needs couple of genuine fast bowlers along with a quality all-rounder. Then only we can hope to see our side at the top for longer time periods. Indian cricket is enjoying ipl success right now, but as soon as we return back to international cricket we might need to search for answers for those questions that are still alive somewhere.India is power house of cricket right now and no Indian or other cricket fan/board can take the jolt of Indian teams failure.
 There have been some good promising cricket players but are somehow helpless in dealing with politics in cricket. The administration seems to have got a real clear politics of earning as much as they can by playing big names that pull Indian fans. With big names already being close to their retirement; the young need to be given some look-in into international cricket. Although we might say that Sachin Tendulkar and others are still going to be around, but for how long? no one knows. We are facing a transition in future and should try to go through it smoothly by starting as early as possible.
